Leicestershire Speed Camera Location

GatsoNearest Town/village: Groby
Road Name: A50
Direction of Camera: Southbound
Speed Limit: 40mph

Speed Camera Details: Leaving the M1 at Junction 22 and proceeding about 2 miles south-east down the dual carriageway A50 towards Leicester, you pass through two roundabouts. The first at Markfield, the second at a quarry entrance. After the second you begin to descend a steep hill with bends. About a half mile further on, at the bottom of the hill, the road straightens out and there are houses on both sides. At the start of the straight is a speed camera set up among bushes on the left, about 100 yards before a set of traffic lights. Note there is ALSO a camera on the lights. For more on the camera at the traffic lights please see camera reference number: EML024.

May 2017 update: The A50 towards Leicester reference camera: EML004 and the forward facing camera before it. Most of the A50 is now a 40mph. They have in the last two weeks dropped it all, but put no warning signs up. The forward facing camera seems to still be set at 50mph...possibly.

December 2017 update: A sign has recently been installed on the westbound carriageway suggesting that speeds are now being monitored by an average speed camera system. No cameras appear to have been installed though?
