Nearest Town/village: Potter Heigham
Road Name: Bridge Road / Ludham Road
Direction of Camera: Northbound
Speed Limit: 30mph
Speed Camera Details: Speedspike between Lathems of Potter Heigham and the village stores. These cameras enforce a 30mph speed limit. Another motorist reports: Appears to be a Speed Spike set up. But since it appears to be on private land and there is also an active speed readout sign at that location I am unsure if it is legit?
November 2016 update: I have contacted Norfolk County Council and have been told that this is NOT a speed camera. They only install cameras on the public highway and the location does not meet the accident type/rate criteria. This device is on private land, belonging to Causeway Cottage Caravan Park. I have spoken to them and have been told that it is a bat counter/roost. There is a small hole in the base of the casing and a 'ladder' up which bats can climb. The device is right at the border of their land and the highway and is pointing along the highway, towards the entrance to the site, and, IMO, is clearly intended to be mistaken for a SpeedSpike camera.
Camera reference number: EEN064

SpeedSpike works similar to SPECS and VECTOR average speed cameras measuring the speed of your vehicle over a set distance rather than at a fixed point like the popular Gatso safety camera.
SpeedSpike cameras were first trialled on the roads in Hampshire and Bedfordshire, Norfolk is the latest county to have them installed. Read more about SpeedSpike.
Norfolk Safety Camera Partnership was created in 2011 and operates across the whole of the Norfolk's roads to maintain the safety of road users. Safety cameras are positioned at fixed sites and mobile camera units are deployed at locations which have a significant 3 year casualty history and evidence of excessive speed or red light non compliance.
